Who am I?
- 33-year-old woman from Kuhmo, Finland.
- I live in the middle of the forest, in Kuhmo LammasperÀ with my boyfriend and my cat. I have also previously lived in Kajaani, Kuopio and Rovaniemi.
- My profession is a nature guide. I have also studied design and content production.
- I am into photography and all kinds of outdoor activities, such as skishoeing and cycling. I am also interested in art and history.
- I’m quite fun to be with because of my humorous and friendly nature. I love it when I make people laugh!
Why did I set up the KoeKainuu website?
KoeKainuu was actually born because of the covid. When the pandemic started, my boyfriend and I were living in Rovaniemi. I worked as a tourist guide and he worked as a waiter. We both lost our jobs and decided to go to Kuhmo for the summer. In Kuhmo, we found that it was much easier to find work here and we stayed.
I have noticed that Kainuu as a region is really undervalued. We have great nature and culture here, but outsiders seem to think of Kainuu as a depressing backwoods area with nothing to see. It is difficult for tourists to find information about Kainuu, as it is scattered on a number of different websites, many of which are not even updated.
I thought that there is need for a blog about Kainuu and I founded KoeKainuu. I had experience of blogging from a previous LÀhtisitkö? -my blog . As a tourist guide, I have also learned to know what kind of things tourists are interested in.
I love nature. The KoeKainuu website donates 1% of its revenue to the Natural Heritage Foundation every year.
Me as a guide
Excursions and courses with me are fun. You’ll feel relaxed and like you’re hanging out with an old friend. Walking with me is not rushed, and I don’t get bored even if there are slower walkers in the group. In fact, I think the slowness is a good thing, rushing around is not enough time to see everything!
You will learn a lot: I know a lot of interesting things about nature and history. I can present things in an interesting way, telling stories and amazing facts.

I organise my own excursions and trips, but you can also ask me to be your guide or tour leader for trips organised by an external organisation!

I started my first blog 4 years ago. I can now say that at the time I was completely clueless about the ins and outs of content marketing. To promote my blog, I started to attend various courses and coaching sessions. Today, I am a content creator specialized in tourism. Here’s what I do best:

The blog articles I write are varied – I don’t just write a diary-like account of my experiences, I like to go deeper. I think the most important thing is to give the reader useful and interesting information . In practice, this means, for example, that I write about the history of the topic and embed useful links in the article, giving the reader navigation instructions or even more information.
